psych-facts:

Paul Ekman, a pioneer psychologist of emotions and facial expressions finds that there are 6 universal emotions: Fear, anger, sadness, joy, disgust and surprise. He traveled the world and find that these emotions are present in almost all cultures. Universal emotions are considered ingrained in us early in birth and not learned. People who are born blind also show them. They also present in all human species.
Recently, research proposes that there is a 7th universal emotion. Pride. Pride is expressed by the raised head, upright shoulders, and he outstretched arms. It is believed to be a universal emotion because the research was able to show that pride is not learned but innate and that it is a distinct but recognizable emotion from the other 6 emotions and that other cultures also show pride through similar pride expressions.

psych-facts:

When you’re sad, you only remember sad things. When you’re happy, you’re able to remember both.
You guys can probably relate to this. When you’re sad, you ruminate about other depressing things and you dread about tomorrow. But when you’re happy, you remember the good and bad times. You think about the hardships you’ve been through and how you’re feeling better now. You also look forward to the future.
In a study conducted using hypnosis and recall, the study finds that when people were hypnotized to be happy, they remember both content (that are positive and negative) whereas when hypnotized to be sad, they can only recall mostly the negative things.
